Making Gifts to Share
Troop 832
completed their Christmas Service Project on December 17th. Girls made pine
cone ornaments at camp and were delivered to our Seniors of Hawaii Island Adult
Care Center.
On December 24th Troop 445 delivered gifts,
food, basic needs, and a Christmas Dinner to a very deserving family in
Waipahu. Anne Rice shared that the older
sister is only 29 and has gained custody of her siblings, ages 10-19, from
their abusive parents. Catholic Charities facilitated the meeting and
delivery to the family. “We were able to meet one of the boys and he
helped with the pickup – you should have seen his eyes when I opened the back
of my car and had to catch a gift that came out because it was so full,” shared
Rice. “The girls planned the entire dinner right down to matching Christmas
paper plates and the little things you always forget like butter.” The
troop was able to provide some long term needs for the family – dishes, glasses,
silverware, shoes, slippers, socks, and clothes in addition to three tubs full
of items of some basic needs like toilet paper and laundry detergent.
