Gold
Award Recipient Cori Sutton Earns JABSOM Scholarship
From Gold Award-winning Girl Scout to
future physician, Cori Sutton of Troop 415 has received a golden opportunity:
a four-year full tuition scholarship to the John A. Burns School of Medicine
(JABSOM). She is just one of seven recipients of the Doctor of Medicine Early
Acceptance Program, and credits the Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi as key to her success.
For her Gold Award Project, Cori designed
an innovative presentation for the Honolulu Zoo entitled “Save the
Orangutans: If the Girl Scouts Can Do It, So Can You,” educating visitors
about the deforestation caused by palm oil production. She joins the ranks of
only six percent of eligible girls nationwide who have earned the prestigious
Gold Award. Girl Scouts fostered Cori’s love for community service, and it
has played an important role in helping her pursue her dream career as a
doctor.
Congratulations to Cori Sutton! We know
you will achieve great things in your future!
