GIRL SCOUTS ON MAUI “TRY ON” DIFFERENT CAREERS WITH THE BARBIE – BE ANYTHING, DO EVERYTHING PROGRAM

Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi recently held its Barbie – Be Anything, Do Everything
Program for Daisies and Brownies. The program encourages girls to explore a variety of career fields which they otherwise might not have been exposed. Just as Barbie can “try on” different jobs, so too did the Girl Scouts, as they learned more about computer programming, nursing, gardening and aviation.

Through the Barbie – Be Anything, Do Everything Program, scouts learned about these four fields from professionals, and then applied their newfound knowledge to exercises in those careers. Their “practice” jobs included designing and coding their own story on the computer, wrapping ankles with ace bandages, trying on a beekeeper’s outfit, and experimenting with a flight simulator program. Through first-hand exposure to these creative career fields, the scouts learned that they truly can be anything, and do everything they can imagine!
