Women of Distinction
o
We have had some questions about Girl Auction Runners.
This year we will be doing a few new things at our event! One of them
is an online auction so we will not need as many girl runners. At this
time, we have enough runners. However if an older girl would like to
participate, we are looking for Gala Greeter Leaders. These older girls
will work with a group of younger girls doing the following: Show them how to
greet guests, escort girls to the bathroom, be an example to them as a
greeter and help the younger girls to not get out of control, and help with
any other problems that may arise. The number of Gala Greeter Leaders
will be determined by the number of younger Gala Greeters
participating. If an older girl is interested in being a Gala Greeter
Leader, have them sign up as a Gala Greeter.

Egg Hunt at Manoa Park.
·
Manoa Park needs older girls to
help with their annual Egg Hunt on Sunday March 29th from
8:30am-11:00am. Volunteers will help with arts and crafts and the egg
hunt. There are about 300 keiki expected to attend and volunteers are
needed to help. Their project this year is a visor/mask that is the shape of
a Ninja Turtle Face. Volunteers could earn community service hours
needed for school and NHS. Please contact Marc at mkoga@honolulu.gov.
Gold
Award
o Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i is seeking volunteers to help with
the Gold Award committee as well as helping mentor girls who are earning
their Gold Award.
o Gold Award committee members are needed to approve higher
awards across the state. Mentors are needed to work one on one with girl's to
guide and offer support through the higher award process. Both committee
members and Mentors are needed across the state, are flexible, and we'll work
with your schedule and location!
Volunteer
Trainer
o Do you enjoy helping other volunteers learn the ropes and
get excited about their new role? Girl Scouts is looking for volunteer
trainers who can deliver information about Girl Scouting to new and
experienced volunteers. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is
looking to support Girl Scouting behind the scenes, who like to work with
other adult volunteers, and for someone who needs a flexible volunteer
opportunity.
STEM
Professionals and Volunteers
o Are you a professional or volunteer who use science,
technology, engineering, or math in your field? Mentors and role models guide
students in transforming their interests into careers. Even if you can
volunteer only for a limited amount of time, studies have shown that talking
with professionals in their own communities helps students. From leading an
activity at STEM camp to mentoring a Gold Awardee, the roles of STEM
professionals are crucial to the development of exceptional skills,
excitement, and accomplishment for students. We’re developing a directory of
these Hawaii-based people who are interested in being resources for
interested Girl Scouts.
It’s Your
Story – Tell It!
Girl
Scouts of Hawaii would love to tell your story! Remember, if a troop or service unit has a
media opportunity, please let Girl Scouts of Hawai`i know in advance.
